Pancyprian Coordinating Committee on Child Protection and Welfare

The Pancyprian Coordinating Committee for the Protection and Welfare of Children (PCCPWC) is the National Body coordinating the District Committees for the Protection and Welfare of Children working since 1979. Officially founded in 1994 and apart from its coordinating role, the PCCPWC safeguards and promotes Children’s Rights as they appear in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and addresses the problems faced by children in exercising their rights. According to its Statute, the PCCPWC is committed to working towards the full implementation of the CRC.

According to its Statute the PCCPWC:

  1. Coordinates the District Committees for the Protection and Welfare of Children and decides on issues referred to by them.
  2. Deals with issues regarding the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and proposes measures for the full implementation of its provisions.
  3. Examines and deals with issues of Child Protection and Welfare on a Pancyprian basis.
  4. Liaises and works with similar International and European Organizations towards the full implementation of the CRC world-wide.
Association for the Prevention and Handling of Domestic Violence (SPAVO) is a member of the PCCPWC.
